Six missiles fired into Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border Friday by suspected US drone aircraft killed 13 people, the second such strike in 24 hours, government officials said, according to dpa. Twelve more people were injured in the missile strikes that took place in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, a hotbed of Taliban and al-Qaeda. "We have received information that 13 people died and 12 were injured," an official of the district's civil administration said. "Some of those killed were foreigners." The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the drone attack targeted a compound used by Taliban as a training centre in Maizar Madakhel village, located next to the Afghan border. An intelligence official who also sought anonymity confirmed the incident but put the death toll at 11. According to him, the compound belonged to a tribesman identified by his first name, Taleem. A similar drone strike killed three people and injured two more on Thursday evening in North Waziristan. Pakistan publicly denounces drone attacks but many analysts believe its intelligence agencies regularly share information on possible targets with the United States' Central Intelligence Agency.
