An official in Egypt's aviation authority says 5 crew members of a Ukrainian cargo aircraft have been killed as fire swept through their plane on the tarmac in the southern city of Luxor. The official said the fire started early Friday in the engine as the Russian-made Antonov An-12 cargo plane was still on the runway. The plane was preparing to take off after filling up with gas at the Luxor airport and was en route to Ukraine, Associated Press reported. The official said Egyptian fire engines rushed to the aircraft, «but the fire was faster.» He said the fire did not affect aviation in the airport.
