King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Riyadh will organize on Sunday evening a lecture under the title of "The History of Poland in the Twentieth Century in the light of European history written by Historian Professor Norman Davies." The lecture will be accompanied by interpretation into Arabic in the auditorium of the Center building of King Faisal Charitable Foundation. It is note worthy that Professor Norman Davis is a Fellow of the British Academy in 1997, born in Bolton, Lancashire in 1939. He obtained PhD degree from Jagiellonian University in Krak?w,Poland. He taught and lectured at universities in Britain and many European and world countries. He has a number of honorary titles, degrees and memberships including European Academy of Sciences and Arts ( Academia Scientiarum et Artium Europaea), honorary doctorates from Jagiellonian University (since 2003), Lublin, Gdansk and Warsaw (since 2007). He is a member of the committee for the order of Smile (Polish Order U?miechu) which is an international award given to adults distinguished in their love, care and aid for children. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received Order of the Smile (Order U?miechu)), given by Chancellor of International Chapter of the Order of the Smile Marek Michalak, with Olga and Daria, Polish conjoined-twins, in Warsaw on 26 June 2007. His works including God's Playground (1981), on Polish History, Europe (1996) and The Isles (1999) received world recognition and were deep study on Poland, Europe and the British Island, and translated into a range of languages due to their importance. Professor Davis also received decorations including the Grand Cross (1st class) of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
