During a visit to King Abdullaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), China's President Hu Jintao expressed his admiration for city's advanced technological achievements. President Jintao was received by KACST Director Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sowil, Deputy Director Prince Turky bin Saud bin Mohammed and Deputy Director for Scientific Research Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Rasheed. Jintao praised the projects and research being carried out by KACST saying that "These products are industrially and commercially applicable". He also expressed his desire for a developed scientific cooperation between the two countries in the field of research and technology. At the beginning of the visit, President Jintao watched a documentary summarizing the city's prominent achievements. He was also briefed on the research programs being conducted by the city. Professor John Yu, member of the Saudi-Chinese Work Team, briefed him on the team's study of palm trees in the Kingdom. Expressing his admiration for the city's Saudi-Chinese joint program, Jintao said "I saw a very advanced scientific city equipped with very sophisticated modern apparatus". KASC expressed his hope that the visit will enhance scientific cooperation between the two countries.
