U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell is working on the “next steps” ahead of his return visit to the region at the end of February, the White House said Wednesday. Mitchell met President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the White House to brief them on his first visit in his new position, spokesman Robert Gibbs said. “Senator Mitchell gave an initial readout of his trip to the region,” Gibbs told reporters. “He's now developing a specific set of next steps, and the president looks forward to hearing more about that.”
