The 14th annual conference entitled "Human Resources & Development In The Arabian Gulf" started its discussions today in the Arab United Emirates (UAE) Capital, Abu Dhabi. The conference, organized by Emirates Center for Strategic Studies & Research, discusses the importance of creating trained and highly qualified human resources. The conference was attended by Prince Turky Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies and UAE Interior Minister Sheikh Saif Al Nahayyan and a number of dignitaries in the Gulf. At the conference, Sheikh Saif said that "The development plans put by the Gulf Cooperation Council states (GCC) can't be achievable without the availability of trained and creative human resources". Prince Turky commended Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's announcement to mark 2008 as National Identity Year, hoping that the efforts to protect and promote national identity "have reached the desired goal". Prince Turky also called upon Gulf States to work hard to achieve the current integral process aiming at creating unity among GCC. The conference also discussed future needs for local human resources as well as the role of expatriate workforce by the GCC job market.
