The cultural events associated with the participation of Saudi Arabia in Cairo International Book Fair have continued by holding a cultural symposium yesterday on reviewing the history and emergence of Saudi press presented by Mohammed Abdulrazzaq Alqashami. Al-Qashami said that when late King Abdulaziz Al Saud had chosen Ali Fauzan bin Sabiq to be his representative in Egypt, he wanted to issue a newspaper that publishes news items on Hijaz and Najd. By virtue of his relationship with former reporter Sulaiman Al-Dakhil, who issued Riyadh newspaper in Baghdad in 1910. With the help of Egyptian reporter Mohamed Shafiq Mustafa, Al-Riyadh newspaper was published which was a bi-monthly newspaper focused on the Renaissance of Hijaz and Najd. Al Qashami further said that early Saudi students on scholarships to Egypt initiated and published their own publications to connect Saudi expatriates with each other. This step was followed by the issuance of Al-Nawat Magazine in Egypt in 1955.
