Presided over by its chairman Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaid, the Shoura Council held here today its 69th ordinary session. At the outset of the session, the Council extended its condolences on the death of the Shoura Council member Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Ajlan. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Secretary General of Shoura Council Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ghamdi said that the council approved the two annual reports of the Ministry of Higher Education for the fiscal years 1425/1426H. and 1426/1427H. and recommendations to increase financial and administrative support for newly established universities as well as private colleges. He also said that the Council approved the annual reports of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) for the fiscal years 1425/1426H. and 1426/1427H and recommendations to form a ministerial committee to address the SWCC financial needs and to increase SWCC dual production of water and electricity. The council also listened to the annual report of the General Presidency For The Holy Mosque & Prophet Holy Mosque Affairs (GPHA) for the fiscal year 1426/1427H and approved the following decision: "First: expanding GPHA's budget with an annual increase of SR 10, 000,000 million riyals. Second: confirming article (2) of the Council's decision No. 60/72 dated 10/2/1423H and the Council's decision No. 62/37 dated 17/8/1424H regarding the construction of a headquarters for GPHA and its library near the Holy Mosque in Makkah". The Council also started discussions of the two annual reports of the Real Estate Development Fund for the fiscal years 1426/1427H and 1427/1428H as well as the annual reports of King Faisal Specialist Hospital for the fiscal years 1425/1426H, 1426/1427H and 1427/1428H. The Council will hold further discussions of the reports in its next session.
