Sri Lankan troops captured two Tamil Tiger rebel bases in the north, the military said Sunday. Soldiers seized the bases in Puthukudiyiruppu village in the rebel stronghold of Mullaittivu on Sunday, military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said. Cases of TNT, some 4,000 detonators and barrels of acid were found at the bases, Nanayakkara was quoted as saying by Associated Press. Separately, soldiers clashed with rebels at three locations Saturday and recovered the bodies of five insurgents, Nanayakkara said.
