An avalanche killed three people in the Scottish highlands Saturday, reported the Press Association, citing police officials, according to dpa. A fourth person was hospitalized with a shoulder injury. Nine people in at least two separate parties were hiking on Buchaille Etive Mhor, near Glencoe, when the avalanche struck, said police. A major rescue operation involving helicopters and search dogs was employed to rescue the survivors off the mountain. Authorities said they do not believe any more people remain stranded in the mountains.
