Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, met at his office here today Mr. Riyad Al-Ahmad, United Nations Coordinator in Saudi Arabia. In the meeting, ways of cooperation and deepening relation between the Saudi Red Crescent Commission and UN-affiliated humanitarian organizations were discussed. The two sides also touched upon the major issues and resolutions discussed in the emergency meeting of Arab health ministers and results of the meeting, in addition to the humanitarian situation of Palestinians in Gaza and implications of the Israeli shelling of the armless Palestinian civilians and means of delivering the humanitarian aid donated by the Saudi government and people so as to reach the needy in the Strip. Prince Faisal bin Abdullah stated the Saudi government is following with extreme concern the humanitarian situation in Gaza, pointing out that the Saudi Red Crescent received more than 320 applications from medical professionals who volunteered to provide medical care to Palestinians under the Saudi Red Crescent humanitarian mission. He called for coordination between humanitarian organizations to offer health and humanitarian service to the wounded and sick Palestinians in Gaza, and demanded a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Red Crescent and the United Nations to form a task force to interfere in emergencies. The international official thanked Prince Faisal bin Abdullah for the activities and suggestions the boost and promote humanitarian work.
