A gunman started shooting overnight at a Madrid discotheque, killing two people and injuring five others, Spanish police said Monday, according to dpa. The killer, who was captured shortly afterwards, was a Spaniard with a criminal record for illegal possession of weapons, threats and causing injuries. A Romanian security guard, who had a criminal record for kidnapping, was shot fatally in the neck. Another employee of the discotheque, who had no record, died at hospital. The killer was also injured in the scuffle. Police said the killings may have been linked to a dispute between criminal rings trying to control the security business at Madrid discos. Most of the 700 patrons at the disco did not hear the shots, which were fired in the entrance area while loud music was playing.
