The second periodic meeting of the speakers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries' Shoura Councils and Parliaments began here today. The kingdom's delegation to the meeting was led by Shoura Council Chairman Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaid. The meeting was attended by GCC Secretary General Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah. In an address, the GCC Secretary General highlighted accomplishments made by the GCC Secretariat including support for the invitation by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz to hold a high-level meeting of the leaders of the world for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures that was organized by the United Nations in November. During the opening session, the participants discussed a number of issues on the agenda of the meeting including recommendations on the rules of the organization of the meeting.
