Chairman of the Shoura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid met here today with the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament Amin bin Haji Mulia. The meeting came as a part of the current visit of Dr. bin Homaid to Malaysia. During the audience, the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament welcomed the Chairman of the Shoura Council and the accompanying delegation, noting the bilateral relationship between the Kingdom and Malaysia on one hand and the Saudi Shoura Council and the Malaysian Parliament on the other. In a speech on the occasion, bin Homaid emphasized the distinguished deep-rooted bilateral relationship binding the two countries, considering the mutual visits by the leaderships of the two countries is yet another proof of the distinguished relation binding the two countries. The two parties discussed a number of issues of common interest, including the activation of the parliamentary friendship committees between the two chambers. The meeting was attended by members of the Shoura Council and the Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammad Reza Abu Alhamail. Earlier today, bin Homaid visited the International Islamic University in Malaysia. The Principal of the university announced that the University's senate is interested to appoint bin Homaid as Chairman of the Higher Council of the International Institute for Quranic Studies. Thanking the university for this offer, bin Homaid said he would reply later.
