Gunmen fired at the vehicle of the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa's police chief, who was wounded but survived, the Public Security Ministry said Friday according to dpa. Ricardo Serrano Alonso, 60, was attacked late Thursday in state capital Culiacan. His van was hit by several bullets after being intercepted by another vehicle. The attackers managed to escape. More than 4,500 people have been killed in Mexico so far this year, in incidents linked to organized crime.
