In line with directives by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, an international ship building company has been contracted to build two fast ships to transport passengers and vehicles between the two ports of Jazan and Farasan. Currently, the two ships, Jazan and Farasan, are undergoing sea tests at the port of the manufacturing company. This has been stated to Saudi Press Agency by Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Ala'ssaf adding that each ship accommodates 65 passengers and 60 cars and has a speed of 35 knots. The minister added that it will take the two ships 40 minutes to travel the distance between the two ports of Jazan and Farasan compared to the current time of two hours for the same journey. The two ships will be commissioned at Jazan port during the first quarter of next year.
