Fatwa hotline set up inside Grand Mosque By Salman Al-Sulami MAKKAH – Nearly 100 fatwa phone cabins have been set up inside the Grand Mosque to help pilgrims make calls to 50 Sheikhs around the clock about their Haj rituals, said Yousuf Al-Wabil, deputy director of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques for Services. The Saudi Post Authority will provide this service at all the Kingdom's outlets. – Okaz/SG Fast ships to connect Jizan, Farasan RIYADH – An international company has been contracted to build two fast ships to transport passengers and vehicles between Jizan and Farasan. Currently, the two ships are undergoing sea tests at the port of the manufacturing company, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Finance, said here on Friday. He said each ship accommodates 65 passengers and 60 cars. The minister added that it will take the two ships 40 minutes to travel the distance between the two ports of Jizan and Farasan compared to the current time of two hours for the same journey. The new ships will be commissioned at Jizan port during the first quarter of next year. – SPA Comprehensive Haj coverage plan RIYADH – A comprehensive plan for media coverage of Haj at the local and international levels has been worked out, Prince Turki Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information, said here on Friday. He said in line with its annual custom, the ministry will host a large number of media people and intellectuals to perform Haj. The ministry has established comprehensive media centers in Jeddah, Makkah, Mina, Arafat and Madina, he said. – SPA Health centers work around the clock By Abdullah Al-Maghatti DHULM – Health Affairs in Taif has assigned mobile medical teams to provide emergency services around the clock throughout Haj. Abdulrahman Bin Abdullah Karkman, Director of Health Affairs Directorate in Taif, on Thursday made an inspection tour of all the health centers engaged in pilgrim services to ensure the best quality of service. Karkman also discussed progress made in the construction of Dhulm General Hospital with the contracted company to make sure that the deadline for completion is met and to allow the supplying of medical equipment to begin. – Okaz/SG 150 dietitians assigned for sick pilgrims By Hatem Al-Masaudi MAKKAH – The Ministry of Health has assigned 150 dietitians to check meals served to pilgrims in hospitals and medical centers at the holy sites. The dietitians have been assigned to make sure that catering services adhere to health standards and address the dietary needs of pilgrims. – Okaz/SG National Guard captain survives stab from private By Salem Al-Juhani JEDDAH – A captain at the National Guard in Jeddah was discharged from hospital Friday as his situation has improved after a failed murder attempt in his office carried out by one of his privates last Tuesday. It was not clear why the private, who is under detention for investigation, attempted to murder his superior. The private used a knife to try to stab the captain right in his heart, but he dodged it, only to get it in his left shoulder. A source close to the captain said that his situation has improved over the last four days.
