The 78th session of the financial and economic cooperation committee of Gulf Cooperation Council began here today in the presence of GCC secretary general Abdul-Rahman Al-Atiyyah. The Saudi delegation to the meeting is led by Dr Ibrahim al-Assaf, the finance minister. The participants of the meeting are scheduled to review a number of economic topics including the Gulf summit due to be held in Oman in December 2008. The Kuwaiti news agency quoted an Omani economic source as saying that the meeting will review a report on the feasibility study for the railway project in the GCC member states and other economic topics. The source added that they will also review issues pertaining to the establishment of the Gulf common market.
