Secretary General of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulrahman Al-Atiyyah has reiterated that the Council's six member states will ratify the security agreement pertaining to fighting terrorism. In an exclusive interview with the Manama-based "Al-Wasat" Arabic newspaper, Al-Atiyyah said the GCC interior ministers will review at their meeting in Manama later today a report prepared by the GCC General Secretariat on means and measures of combating terrorism. The GCC interior ministers will also review issues relating to exchange of data and coordination among the security organs of the GCC, which is comprised of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Al-Atiyyah pointed out that the Gulf Monetary Union is steadily proceeding ahead and a report in this respect will be submitted to the GCC Supreme Council at its 26th session, scheduled to take place in December in Abu Dhabi. A decision has already been taken by the GCC Supreme Council to launch the unified Gulf currency in January 2010.
