Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Saudi Foreign Minister, met here yesterday with Norwegian Parliament members. During the meeting, Prince Saud asserted the importance of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, calling for dialogue among religions and cultures. The initiative aims at promoting the culture of peace and harmony among peoples of various religions and cultures through dialogue based on common human values and principles of religions, cultures and civilizations that call for the good and reject evil. He pointed out that the most important factor of convergence among cultures and civilizations is human communication among peoples of the World which enables them to understand the cultures of each other. Prince Saud spoke about the problems afflicting the region, pointing out that the problem of the Middle East is the center of these problems at the same time it is the solution to many of these problems. He called for redoubling the efforts to push peace process in the region in accordance with the agreed basis which is based on the principles and resolutions of the international legitimacy as well as the assurances and understandings of Annapolis. The Foreign Minister held Israel responsible for the faltering of the peace process through its repressive policies against the Palestinian people, the expansion of settlements and building more of them. This led to dividing the occupied Palestinian territories and putting a major obstacle to the international trend to establish an independent Palestinian state. Prince Saud said that the Arab side has carried out all its commitments by approving peace as a strategic option. The Arab side made successive initiatives from the eight-point initiative of late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz in 1982 to the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for comprehensive peace in return for full withdrawal adopted by the Arab summit held in Beirut in 2002. In this context, Prince Saud asserted that the initiative is comprehensive, integrated and indivisible.
