Presided over by its Chairman Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaid, the Shoura Council held its 54th ordinary session here today. Sheikh Dr. Saleh delivered a speech in which he said, "The world has followed the World Conference on Dialogue among Followers of Religions and Civilizations as called for by the United Nations based on an initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The conference was attended by fifty heads of state. The historic speech delivered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques addressed many important issues in the world". "The UN conference was came by an initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to emphasize that Islam message calls for peace and renounces terrorism and violence", Sheikh Dr. Saleh added. "The King stressed in his speech that the absence of dialogue has led to misunderstanding and hatred. The focus on the points of dispute led to intolerance and destructive wars", Sheikh Dr. Saleh said. "The final statement of the conference met the goals of the initiative. The statement stressed the importance of promoting dialogue, understanding and tolerance among human beings in addition to respecting religions, cultures and different beliefs", Sheikh Dr. Saleh added. --
