Umdurman Islamic University of Sudan today hailed the outcome of the United Nation's high-level meeting on culture of peace held in New York on 12 - 13 November 2008 in response to an initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, the Rector of the Umdurman-based university Professor Mohamed Othman Salih expressed appreciation of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques calling for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures to promote world peace and security. He said the meeting has contributed to ward off false offenses against Islam and that the gathering served as an effective mechanism for rapprochement among followers of religions and different cultures.
