The White House on Monday reiterated its commitment to creating a smooth transition between the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush and that of Barack Obama. White House Press Secretary Dana Perino's comments came just hours ahead of President-Elect Obama and his family coming to the White House to meet with the President and First Lady Laura Bush. Bush is “very much looking forward to this meeting,” she said. Though the meeting is greatly ceremonial, the two are also anticipated to speak about the economic crisis along with the “threat of attack,” Perino said. But, she consistently reiterated the importance of ensuring a peaceful handoff from a Bush to an Obama presidency. It is a priority “to make sure we have a very smooth transition,” Perino said.
