Ministers of electricity and water of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states held their 21st meeting here yesterday under the chairmanship of Qatari Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs Dr. Mohammad Saleh al-Saddah. At the opening of the meeting, DR al-Saddah said it is an important stage for the GCC cooperation in the field of electricity and water. He announced that after few months the GCC States will celebrate the inauguration of the first stage of the GCC power grid, noting that it will follow the signing of a number of agreements concerning this project, according to a report of Qatar News Agency (QNA). Dr al-Saddah said the agenda of the Electricity and water cooperation committee, which consists of the GCC electricity and water ministers, is full of key issues which were previously referred to the ministers by the undersecretaries of electricity and water ministries during their meeting held in Doha. Many of the undersecretaries' recommendations will have great effect in the progress of GCC electricity cooperation in the next period, he added. --MORE
