Sharjah International Airport recorded an impressive 24.78 per cent increase in the passenger traffic during the first nine months of the current year. During the same period, the aircraft movement and cargo handling also rose by 23.03 and 9.37pc respectively, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM." The statistical figures released by the Sharjah Airport Authority showed that over 3.926 million passengers traveled through the airport during the nine months, compared to 3.145 million passengers during the same period last year. The total number of chartered flights during that period stood at 44,861 compared to 36,464 flights during the same period last year. The total volume of air cargo handled during the period from January 2008 until the end of September was 430,000 tons against 393,000 tons during the same period last year, the figures showed.
