Saudi Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Manea arrived this evening in Cairo to lead his country's delegation to the 55th session of the Regional Middle Eastern Committee for the World Health Organization scheduled for Cairo tomorrow. He will also lead Saudi Arabia's delegation to the extraordinary meeting for the Executive Bureau of the Arab Health Ministers preparatory meeting for the Arab Economic, Developmental and Social summit scheduled for Cairo on Sunday on the sidelines of the regional session. In a statement, the minister said WHO's meeting will discuss a number of issues dealing with combating AIDS, smoking, climate changes impact on public health, maternity and childhood, psychiatric health, strategy of wiping out malaria in the Mediterranean region and other important issues. On the Arab preparatory meeting, he said the ministers will review two important reports on ways to better treat diabetics and to upgrade health services in the Arab world, both to be submitted to the economic, developmental and social summit scheduled for Kuwait early 2009.
