Five people were killed and two others injured when a 'Pramek' train rammed into a Toyota 'Avanza' van at a railway crossing in Ketandan village, Klaten district, Central Java, on Thursday, according to ANTARA. According to Suprihatin, an eyewitness, the Pramek train serving Yogyakarta-Solo route hit the van at about 12:10 local time. The accident happened when the Avanza van carrying seven people was about to cross the railway crossing which was not provided with any gate. But all of a sudden, the train bound to Solo came up, so that the accident was unavoidable. Three of the Avanza passengers were killed on the spot while two passengers died at the Islamic hospital of Klaten. Klaten district police chief Adjunct Commissioner Rikwanto confirmed the accident and the car of the victim was already moved to the Klaten police post.
