heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 22.48, or 1.1 percent, to 2,069.40. Big technology losers included eBay, which fell 5.6 percent, and Oracle, which fell 2 percent.
The New York Stock Exchange composite index fell 12.85 to 7,519.95. The American Stock Exchange composite index rose 46.10 to 1,832.99. And the Russell 2000 index fell 7.99 to 671.59.
