Tropical storm Kyle was declared a hurricane Saturday by the National Hurricane Centre in Miami as it heads toward the coast of Maine and Canada, according to DPA. Kyle has already dumped several days of rain across the east coast of the US as it moved northward over the Atlantic. Winds of 120 kilometres per hour made it a category 1 storm on the five-level Saffir-Simpson scale, the hurricane centre said. The centre of the storm was located about 780 kilometres south of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and could hit the US and Canadian east coast within the next 36 hours, the centre said at 2100 GMT.
