Jordan's King Abdullah II spoke by telephone with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday as Abbas prepares to travel to the US for talks with President George W Bush, according to a royal court statement. The discussion tackled "ongoing efforts aimed at advancing the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis," the statement said, according to DPA. "Abbas kept the monarch informed about the issues he was going to take up with President Bush at the White House on Thursday," it added, referring to the core questions of the conflict - Jerusalem, settlements, refugees and frontiers.
