King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday called on Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to urge the achievement of "concrete results" in his periodical talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, an official statement said, according to dpa. "The King underlined the importance of keeping up the peace process momentum with a view to reaching concrete results within a specific timetable on the basis of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative," the statement from the royal court said. "The monarch expressed the hope that the prime minister's meetings with the Palestinian president will pave the ground for resuming negotiations between the two sides in the run-up for concluding a comprehensive settlement for the Palestine question," it added. King Abdullah spoke to Olmert against the backdrop of frustration felt by both Jordanian and Palestinian officials over the failure of the last meeting between Olmert and Abbas on Sunday to achieve tangible results, Amman-based Arab diplomats said. The disappointment stemmed from Olmert's insistence on confining the talks to security issues to the exclusion of final status questions, namely Jerusalem, the settlements, the separation wall and the return of Palestinian refugees, they added.
