At least five people, including three young girls, died Friday in flooding due to the heavy rains that affected most of the territory of Honduras, DPA reported. The deaths happened in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa, some 180 kilometres north of Tegucigalpa, said Mayor Gaspar Pineda. Rivers flowed over their banks and caused two women and the three girls to drown. Flooding affected several areas of the Central American country, and scores of homes were reportedly destroyed.
