Five people were killed and 20 injured on Wednesday in a twin bomb attack west of Baghdad, dpa quoted police sources as saying. Two cars loaded with explosives were detonated in front of a hospital in Al-Harithya neighbourhood, Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency reported. Earlier, police sources said three Iraqis were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen on the outskirts of Kirkuk, 250 kilometres north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. A group of armed men opened fire on a civilian car on the main road between Kirkuk and the south-west district of al-Rashad on Tuesday night, killing three and injuring one.
