A Mexican governor said Tuesday that organized crime was responsible for blasts at an Independence Day celebration late Monday that killed at least seven people and wounded 101 in the city of Morelia. The attack occurred as Governor Leonel Godoy was leading an Independence Day cheer in Morelia's main plaza, where thousands of people had gathered to celebrate. Godoy said that based on witness accounts, and because of the damage and death toll, authorities believe someone threw or launched several grenades into the crowd. “Without a doubt, we believe this was done by organized crime,” he told Televisa television.
