European foreign policy chief Javier Solana will discuss the Middle East peace process and other regional developments with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Friday, said head of the European Commission delegation in Egypt Dr. Klaus Ebermann on Thursday. Ebermann, in a press release, said that Solana was due to arrive in the Egyptian capital Friday evening from Ramallah on a day's visit after talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He further noted that the EU official was expected to holds talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul-Gheit, and the Secretary-General of the Arab league Amr Moussa, as well as Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Sulaiman. The Middle East peace process and Egyptian mediation efforts to reach reconciliation among the Palestinian factions will top Solana's talks with the Egyptians senior officials, Kuwaiti news agency "KUNA" reported. Ebermann noted that talks were going to discuss the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and the Egyptian borders with Rafah, as well as ways to implement an agreement that facilitates the movement of Palestinians that was signed in 2005. Solana is scheduled to pay a visit to Jordan after wrapping up his visit to Cairo on Saturday as part of his Mideast tour.
