The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Turkey signed in Jeddah today a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a strategic dialogue between the two sides. The memorandum was signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs whose country chairs the current session of the Council, Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan and the Council's Secretary General Abdulrahman Al-Atiyyah. The GCC foreign ministers held here today a meeting with the Turkish foreign minister. Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs led the Kingdom's delegation to the meeting. For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister commended historical relations between his country and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
