A second C-17 military cargo airplane carrying humanitarian aid for Georgia arrived in the capital, Tbilisi, on Thursday, the State Department said. “The second C-17 carrying humanitarian assistance commodities to Georgia arrived in Tbilisi today,” said Robert Wood, a department spokesman. He said cargo from the first airplane was being moved to a nearby government warehouse for distribution to those affected by the conflict with Russia. Over the past few days, about $2 million in humanitarian aid has been provided by the United States to Georgia, including medical supplies, temporary shelter, blankets, and water, Wood told reporters. According to U.S. officials, Russia has been notified about the humanitarian flights. “We expect that they would not interfere with the humanitarian deliveries,” Wood said. Asked if Washington was considering using ships to provide relief supplies to Georgia, Wood replied, “We are looking at a number of options.”
