Eight people were killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near the Iraqi city of Baquba, north-east of Baghdad, a security source in Diyala province said. The bomb hit a public transport vehicle in the Wajihiya area of Muqdadiya district, some 45 kilometres northeast of Baquba, killing five women and three men, according to the source. Separately, a US soldier and four civilians were killed in a double-bombing attack in the northern Baghdad area of Tarmiyah on Sunday, the US military said in a statement Monday quoted by DPA.
