TWO PEOPLE WERE KILLED BY GUNMEN IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN A SUBURB IN BAQUBA, 60 KILOMETRES NORTHEAST OF BAGHDAD, IRAQI POLICE SAID, ACCORDING TO DPA. ONE OF THEM WAS KILLED IN AL-MAFRAQ IN DOWNTOWN BAQUBA WHILE THE OTHER WAS KILLED IN AL-KHALES IN THE NORTH. MEANWHILE, US TROOPS RAIDED A SCHOOL IN A SUBURB OF FALLUJAH, 70 KILOMETRES WEST OF BAGHDAD, AND DETAINED 20 STUDENTS AND TWO TEACHERS, AN IRAQI POLICE SOURCE SAID. THE STUDENTS AT AMMAR IBN YASSER SCHOOL IN AMERIYAT AL-FALLUJAH, AGED BETWEEN 13 AND 17, WERE TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION, THE SOURCE SAID. THE ARRESTS COME AFTER MORTAR ROUNDS STRUCK A US ARMY BASE NEXT TO THE SCHOOL BUILDING, CAUSING A THICK CLOUD OF SMOKE, THE SOURCE ADDED. IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT, ONE CIVILIAN WAS KILLED WHEN HIS VEHICLE WAS HIT BY A ROADSIDE BOMB NEAR AL-DABS, 55 KILOMETRES NORTH OF KIRKUK, WHICH TARGETED A POLICE PATROL, A POLICE SOURCE SAID. ANOTHER EXPLOSION INJURED TWO CIVILIANS WHO WERE SELLING CATTLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A SUBURB IN KIRKUK, 250 KILOMETRES NORTH OF BAGHDAD, A POLICE SOURCE SAID.
