Police say 40 villagers traveling on a truck have been swept away by flood waters and are feared dead in southern India. Police official Mahesh Chadra Laddha says the truck was washed away while it was crossing a flooded bridge over a river in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh state. The road was under nearly six feet (1.8 meters) of water Sunday. Laddha says rescuers have recovered three bodies, while seven people swam to safety. Heavy monsoon rains have killed at least 59 others in the past three days, the Associated Press reported.
