UN regrets overthrow of Mauritania government

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced "deep
regrets" over the overthrow of the democratically elected government
of President Sidi Mohamed Ould Chiekh Abdallahi in Mauritania, according to dpa.
"The secretary general calls for respect for the rule of law and
for the immediate restoration of constitutional order in the
country," a UN spokesperson said.
Chiekh Abdalallahi was elected in June 2007.
