The Los Angeles region was shaken Tuesday by a moderate earthquake that rattled shelves but caused no reported injuries or damage, media reports said, according to dpa. The US Geologic Survey said the quake struck with 5.8 force. An official in the Chino Hills sheriff's office, who was near the epicentre of the temblor about 50 kilometres southeast of Los Angeles, said the shaking had triggered car alarms. The USGS said the earthquake happened at 1842 GMT.
