A moderate 4.4-magnitude earthquake rumbled in Los Angeles County early Tuesday morning, about a mile northeast of Pico Rivera, the U.S. Geological Survey said. People in Hawthorne, Whittier and West Covina reported the quake awakened them about 4:04 a.m., UPI reported. The epicenter was about 11 miles east-southeast from Los Angeles. The earthquake was about 11 miles deep, the USGS said. Officials said they had no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
