Three German climbers abducted by Kurdish rebels in eastern Turkey were freed Sunday after after 12 days in captivity, German and Turkish officials confirmed according to DPA. The trio was in the custody of Turkish security forces and were as well as could be expected after their ordeal, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters in Berlin. A Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said the PKK freed the Germans in a mountainous area where they were found by Turkish police who had been searching for the men.
