Bush to attend Olympics opening ceremony

U.S. President George W. Bush says
it would be an «affront to the Chinese people» if he
didn't attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.
The U.S. president made the comments after meeting Sunday
with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda ahead of a summit
of top industrialized countries.
Bush announced several days ago he would attend the
Olympics ceremony. Fukuda also announced Sunday that he
would attend,.
