Thirty-eight people died when a motorized ferry sank in a river in Myanmar's cyclone-battered Irrawaddy delta, AP quoted state media as saying Friday. The New Light of Myanmar newspaper said 44 others were rescued when the ferry sank in the Yway River on Tuesday after water entered its stern section. The report did not give details of how the accident happened. The ferry was traveling from Pakeikkyi village to Myaungmya, about 94 miles (151 kilometers) west of Yangon, when it sank.
