The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has set up a Sheltering Center on an area of 30,000 square meters in the Chinese city of Mima Netso in Sichuan province for providing relief assistance and sheltering victims of an earthquake which recently hit the province. The Center is capable of sheltering more than 15,000 families in more than 11,300 tents in addition to health clinics. Arrangements are underway for setting up three other sheltering centers in the same province for sheltering more than 50,000 families. The Kingdom has also extended relief assistance and financial support amounting to $50 million to china for helping it in confronting the human and material losses caused by the earthquake. Meanwhile, the relief assistance was airlifted aboard four planes which carried 250 tons of food stuffs, blankets, carpets and tents. The relief assistance was delivered to the Chinese government in coordination with the Saudi embassy in Beijing. This relief assistance to victims of the earthquake comes within the framework of directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
