Over 2,000 people are flood-stranded in 13 settlements in the Sverdlovsk region as a result of an inundation triggered by torrential rains, a source in the regional emergencies department told Itar-Tass on Monday. The water level in the rivers of Tura and Nitsa, when the flooded settlements are situated, has risen by eight to 12 centimeters for the past few days. “The traffic with the flooded villages is broken, as the bridges were flooded, but the communication is sustained by motorboats, ferryboats and boats,” the press service of the regional emergencies department said. All flood-stranded territories are provided with foodstuffs and medicines. More than 200 million Roubles were allocated for the anti-flood measures in the Sverdlovsk region.
