Spain would like the ratification process of the European Union's Lisbon Treaty to continue even if Ireland rejects it, Deputy Prime Minister Teresa Fernandez de la Vega said Friday, according to dpa. Vega said the EU would have to wait until the end of the year before analysing possible solutions to "reinforce European construction" despite the crisis opened by the Irish vote. Spain was "clearly in favour" of the treaty which "represents an important advance in European construction," Vega added. The Spanish parliament may vote on the treaty before the end of June, sources said at parliament.
