The affluent constituencies of Kildare North and Dun Laoghaire near Dublin voted in favour of the EU's Lisbon Treaty Friday, bucking the nationwide trend of rejecting it, according to dpa. Kildare North voted by 54.6 per cent to 45.4 per cent in favour of the treaty, while Dun Laoghaire voted yes by 63.5 per cent to 36.5 per cent. Kildare North was the former constituency of European Internal Market and Services Commissioner Charlie McCreevy who said no sane person would read the Lisbon Treaty in full in the run-up to the vote. With 22 of 43 constituencies officially declared by 1330 GMT, the no vote was ahead by 53.5 per cent to 46.5 per cent.
